AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

SUBMISSION CHECKLIST

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  1. Manuscript Types: We encourage the following types of submissions:
    • Original Research Articles
    • Reviews of Books or Exhibitions
    • Biographical Essays
    • Correspondences with Jain Scholars or Practitioners
    • Translations of Texts from South Asian Languages
    • Notes on Museum Collections, Libraries, and Manuscript Archives
    • Field Reports from Archaeological Sites
    • Ethnographic Fieldwork Notes
    • Studies of Technical Terms
  1. Submission Process: Manuscripts should be submitted via the links at the top of this page.
    • Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) and pdf format.
    • Text should be in Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced.
    • Margins should be 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.
    • Include continuous line numbering throughout the manuscript.
  1. Manuscript Structure

        Cover Letter: A cover letter should be submitted along with the manuscript, briefly  describing:

    • The manuscript’s originality and contribution.
    • Its relevance to the journal’s scope.
    • Confirmation that the manuscript has not been published or is not under consideration elsewhere.

        Title Page: The title page of the paper should include:

    • Complete contact information for each author: first and last name, academic degree(s), honorary title/designation(s), affiliation, address, phone and e-mail address.

        Abstract & Keywords

    • Abstract: A concise summary (150–250 words) highlighting the research purpose, methodology, key findings, and conclusion.
    • Keywords: 4–6 keywords in alphabetic order for indexing purposes.

         Main Text 

    • This is the main content of the paper

         Acknowledgements

    • The author is free to note any acknowledgments

         References

    • All citations and references must follow the MLA style.
    • The Works Cited section must be in alphabetical order and formatted according to MLA 9th edition. Examples:
    • Book: Smith, John. Jain Ethics and Contemporary Society. Springer, 2020.
    • Journal Article: Jones, Sarah. “Non-Violence in Jain Philosophy.” Journal of Jain Studies, vol. 35, no. 2, 2019, pp. 78–92.
    • Online Source: Doe, Richard. “Preksha Meditation in Jainism.” Jainism Research Institute, 5 May 2021, www.jainismresearch.org/articles/preksha. Accessed 12 Jan. 2024.
  1. Figures, Tables, and Supplementary Materials
    • Figures should be high-resolution (minimum 300 dpi).
    • Tables should be numbered consecutively and included within the manuscript text.
    • Supplementary materials (datasets, appendices) should be submitted as separate files.
  1. Ethical Considerations
    • Manuscripts should be original work.
    • If AI has been used, it must be disclosed. Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence their work.
    • Research involving human or animal subjects must comply with ethical guidelines and include approval from an institutional ethics committee.
  1. Peer Review Process
    • This journal follows a double-blind peer review process.
    • The editorial team assesses the manuscript for scope, originality, and quality.
    • Manuscripts are reviewed by at least two independent experts. Based on reviewer feedback, the manuscript may be accepted, revised, or rejected.
  1. Open Access & Copyright
    • All the articles are published in Open Access publication.
    • Authors retain the copyright to their articles.
  1. Post-Acceptance and Proofs
    • Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, typesetting, and final proof approval. Authors will receive page proofs for final corrections before publication.
